Brooten Santa Day is Saturday, December 6 (VIDEO)

The big day for Brooten to shine is coming THIS Saturday, December 6, when the Brooten Activities Club will host Santa Day on Main Street. All events are sponsored by the generous support of the Brooten Fire Relief Association and numerous locally-owned businesses in Brooten. Posters for Santa Day started going up last week, and a color version of the poster was published on the back page of the November 27 and December 4 issues of the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper.

Brooten's Santa Day fun begins with Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus arriving for a 2-hour stay at Lucky Shots Bowling Alley from 4 to 6 p.m. With the help of numerous volunteers, including the Miss Brooten Royalty and River of Life Church, children's activities at Lucky Shots include cookie decorating, craft making and glitter tattoos. All kids will receive gifts that have been purchased from the Belgrade Hardware Store, and the hardware store donated all wrapping paper and bows. If that supply (125 toys) runs out, other toys have been donated by the River of Life Church.

Starting at 5 p.m., the B-B-E Cub Scouts Pack No. 667 will host a chili feed and bake sale at the KaDe Shack. This will run until 7 p.m. or perhaps after depending on how long supplies last. The cost of the chili feed is a free will donation, and proceeds will be donated to the B-B-E Area Food Shelf in Brooten.

An outdoor fire pit with hot chocolate and apple cider will be available by the bowling alley served by the Glacial Ridge A.B.A.T.E. chapter. Two blocks south, children with Trinity and West Lake Johanna Lutheran Parish will have a live nativity scene at the Trinity parking lot. This will run from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and be visible from Hatton Street.

The highlight of the night features the Brooten Lighted Christmas parade that runs at 6 p.m. on Main Street.

Note: due to the colder weather coming on Saturday, hay rides are not going to take place. Hopefully next year!
