Baseball Jaguars hover at the .500 mark (VIDEO)

For a lineup featuring just 2 starters who are seniors, the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa baseball team has given some strong performances across the first half of the regular season. With a recent Central Minnesota Conference series split at Kimball Area, the Jaguars hold a 6-6 record heading into a home game on Tuesday, May 5 against Paynesville Area.

The Jaguars were terrific in game one and defeated the Irish 3-0. Baron Breitbach, an 8th grader, got his first varsity career win and went the distance on the mound. He held the Irish to just one hit while surrendering just two walks to go with 11 strikeouts.

In game two, the Jaguars led 2-0 after two innings before Maple Lake scored 5 runs in the bottom of the third inning. The Irish took the second game by a 10-3 score.

B-B-E swept Ashby in a Section 6A doubleheader in Ashby on Saturday.

On Tuesday, April 28, the Jaguars hosted Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg and Eden Valley-Watkins in back-to-back games in Elrosa. Against K-M-S, Aiden Mueller fired a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts, no earned runs and one walk as the Jaguars won 10-2. Mueller scored 3 times and hit a triple. Against EV-W, the Jaguars were out-hit 14 to 4 in a 12-2 six-inning CMC loss.
