Election results 2022 (first version)

Approximately 270 voters cast their ballot in the city of Brooten on November 8. A few local and state results are included here.

City of Brooten results:

Mayor Thor Amundson was re-elected by a margin of 239 to 2. The two represents write-in votes.

In the contested city council races, the two incumbents were re-elected as follows:

Legislative, statewide races

Senate District 16 incumbent Andrew Lang received nearly 70 percent of the vote against DFL challenger Fernando Alvarado (24,608 votes to 10,692 votes). This senate district includes Kandiyohi County.

Senate District 12 incumbent Torrey Westrom received 68 percent of the vote compared to 28 percent for DFL challenger Kari Dorry (26,179 votes to 10,813) while We The People candidate Ashley Klingbeil received 1,485 votes (3.86%). This senate district includes Swift and Pope counties and a western portion of Stearns County.

House District 12A incumbent Paul Anderson received 13,281 votes (71%) to DFL challenger Edie Barrett's 5,388 votes (28.83%).

House District 12B incumbent Dave Baker received 12,840 votes (72.78%) to DFL challenger Fred Cogelow's 4,795 votes (27.18%).

Governor Tim Walz was reelected by a margin of around 198,000 votes over challenger Dr. Scott Jensen with a total vote count of 2.4736 million votes across six candidates and 1,051 write-in votes. Jensen had 44.44 percent of the vote compared to 52.43 percent for the Walz ticket.

State Auditor Julie Blaha was reelected by a margin of about 15,000 votes. Attorney General Keith Ellison was reelected by a margin of about 28,000 votes. Secretary of State Steve Simon was reelected by a margin of over 230,000 votes.
