Memorial Day programs coming to Brooten, Belgrade (VIDEO)

Please come to one (or both) of the upcoming Memorial Day programs (Monday, May 26) in Brooten and Belgrade with the following itinerary.

The Brooten American Legion Memorial Day program begins at 10 a.m. at the Brooten Pavilion. The Brooten American Legion Auxiliary ladies will be part of the program, and the guest speaker will be Elementary Principal Josie Dingmann. Also, music students from B-B-E high school will perform a selection of patriotic songs.

At Belgrade, the VFW hosts a Memorial Day program at 11 a.m. at the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa high school's Olson Auditorium. The VFW Ladies Auxiliary will also participate, and the guest speaker will be Keith Johnson, the retired mayor of Litchfield who was a 1960 graduate of Belgrade high school. Also, music students from B-B-E high school will perform a selection of patriotic songs. The program in Belgrade will conclude with a parade through town from the high school to the VFW Club. The parade route begins at B-B-E high school's northeast parking lot and then runs west towards the Belgrade Nursing Home. It then loops back towards Washburn Avenue, where the parade units will head north to downtown Belgrade.
