Boys' basketball Jaguars defeat MACCRAY at Willmar (VIDEO)

A career-high 28 points by senior guard Taylor Pieper helped the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa boys' basketball team claim third place in the Red Bracket of the Old National Bank Holiday tournament on Tuesday, December 30. The Jaguars evened their record at 3-3 with the win. In the first of back-to-back border battles at Willmar's Big Red Gym on Monday, the Jaguars lost 68-62 to New London-Spicer. The game to follow featured the host Cardinals taking on MACCRAY, which resulted in a 69-42 win for Willmar. In the Red Bracket championship, undefeated Willmar defeated their Highway 23 rivals by a 65-48 score over NL-S.

Next: the Jaguars host Hancock (5-2) in a Section 6A game on Tuesday, January 6. They finally open Central Minnesota Conference play with a road game at Eden Valley-Watkins (1-4, 0-1) on Thursday, January 8. They host Holdingford (5-2, 1-0) the next night.
