Girls' basketball team slips into tie for first place in CMC (VIDEO)

The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa girls' basketball team suffered their first Central Minnesota Conference loss of the season last Friday, January 30 at Kimball Area. Mighty offensive struggles across the first half was too much to overcome in a 53-51 loss. A late comeback by the Jaguars fell short in the closing minute. Down 53-48 with under 2 minutes to go, Tiffany DIngmann cashed a three-pointer in the closing minute. Multiple possessions in the last 30 seconds went empty in the tough loss.

Now 14-5 overall, the Jaguars prepare for another tough assignment when Royalton comes to Belgrade this Friday night. The Royals, Jaguars and Cubs are all in a virtual tie for first place in the CMC with one loss apiece. Royalton (13-6) has won 9 straight games since B-B-E handed them a third straight loss on January 6 in Royalton.

This Saturday, the Jaguars have a Section 5A game at Browerville (0-15, 0-7) with the varsity game at 1:30 p.m. and the boys to follow at 3:30. Next Tuesday, the Jaguars resume CMC action with a trip to Paynesville (4-14, 3-8).
