    Turnout was tremendous tonight for the B-B-E Class of 2025 senior Baccalaureate worship service on Wednesday, April 30. The annual Ecumenical event was held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Belgrade. Attending clergy were Father Mark Botzet and Pastor Lisa Meshke.   • Jerry Huls, former Brooten teacher, coach passes away

    Jerry Huls, who taught and coached at Brooten schools from 1979 to 1983, passed away on Tuesday, April 29. He was the Brooten Buccaneers head wrestling coach during those four years and also taught K-6 physical education at Brooten elementary school. He was also part of Coach Donna Hursts's volleyball coaching staff at the C-squad level. Thanks to multiple outstanding pitching performances on April 26 and 27, the Saints defeated Starbuck 7-0 and then Lake Henry 3-0.     Eric Segaar, 46, of Brooten, died Tuesday, April 29 in North Fork Township, rural Brooten. His memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 3 at Paynesville Lutheran Church.     On Saturday, May 3, Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa high school hosted the annual Prom Grand March. Student prom-goers lined up on County Road 197 south of the high school's west parking lot and entered in a single-car procession for outdoor introductions and photographs.
