New Miss Brooten royalty has been crowned for 2021-2022 after the pageant and coronation was held on Saturday, July 10 at the Brooten Pavilion. Morgan Schwinghammer, who will be a senior next year at Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa, is the new Miss Brooten. She is the daughter of Darin and Marci Schwinghammer from Colfax Township. Good news, good news, good news! The July 15 Minnesota Department of Health COVID-19 report brought more good news to the zip code areas of Brooten, Belgrade and Elrosa. The trend that dates back to June 17, 2021 continues with no new COVID-19 cases reported in the city and rural areas of the zip codes 56316, 56312 and 56325. Dave Kampsen, Donnie Lenarz and Willard "Bucky" Buckentine (posthumously) were inducted into the Elrosa baseball team's Hall of Fame on July 9 at Saints Field. Dave Kampsen, an Elrosa native, played for the Saints from 1975 to 1995 and was a key member of the program's first amateur state tournament team in 1988.
