Soil and Water Conservation districts in Pope and Stevens Counties joined together to host Water Fest at the Pope County Fairgrounds in Glenwood on September 12. Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa's sixth grade class participated in the event, which educations students about soil health and the value of clean water.
Assistance was also provided by Farm Service Agency staff of Glenwood.
Topics included wetlands, aquatic intruders, water filtration, soil erosion, water treatment plant mechanics, macroinvertebrates, fish and drinking water.
In the attached video, one of the education sessions is featured which focused on wetlands and how they help clean groundwater.
