Bud Heidgerken was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame on Sunday at a ceremony held in Austin on Sunday, September 13. Pope County Farm Bureau sponsored its annual breakfast on the farm on Monday, Labor Day, and served 660 people throughout the morning. On Wednesday, August 19, three trees were cut and cleared from the east side of the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa elementary school. In the August 27 issue of the Bonanza Valley Voice, a front page article talks about a proposed housing project at Lakeside Foods, Inc. in the town's industrial park. The story was incorrect in saying that approval was given by the city council to build it. What was provided was a "go ahead" to continue seeking approval, which is a big difference. A partial power outage for the city of Lowry on Wednesday, August 12 has led to a one-day delay in the delivery of the August 13 issue of the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper. Power was not fully restored in Lowry until close to 2 p.m., which delayed the printing press and the subsequent delivery of the mail bags to the Brooten Post Office.
