This week, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) greatly altered the government's COVID jab recommendations for the public. The new recommendations bring the United States in line with just about every other country in the western world. On Wednesday, May 21, members of the graduating Class of 2025 at Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa were greeted by K-5 elementary students in Brooten. On Sunday, May 18 in Sunburg, musicians with the Sunburg Community Players performed numerous songs at two separate outdoor conferences. These music performances were part of a long list of family-friendly activities for all ages at the Sunburg Syttende Mai celebration. The Sunburg Syttende Mai grand parade lasted around a half hour and included a wide array of local businesses and service groups. The community of Grove Lake hosted a Memorial program that featured local veterans and a short prayer service on the shores of Grove Lake at the township park. Children participated by placing wreaths and flowers at gravesites at the two cemeteries adjacent to County Road 39 south of town.
