Easton Rood, who will be a third grader this fall at Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa elementary school, has now beaten back two different bouts with cancer. On June 18, he returned from a 216-day stay in Rochester where he fought off AML Leukemia while going through a successful bone marrow transplant. At about 7 a.m. on Wednesday, July 23, the Brooten Fire Department and Brooten Ambulance responded to a fire call on School Avenue. The fire was located in a private home that is currently unoccupied and for sale. According to eyewitnesses, work was being done inside the home in previous days, and a buyer was preparing for closing in the coming days. The opening night of Bonanza Valley Days featured a marvelous ecumenical Worship in the Park service led by River of Life Church at the Brooten City Park on Thursday, July 10.
