The last undefeated teams in the Stearns County League met for a great baseball game in Elrosa on Wednesday, June 29. The Elrosa Saints hosted the Farming Flames in a Little Dipper contest, in which the Flames overcame a 4-2 deficit in the third inning to come out with a 5-4 win. Staff and students at the Jaguar Kids Connection and Tri-Valley/Head Start programs, located at the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa elementary school, held an Independence Day parade on Friday, July 1. Over 350 attended Mass at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic church on Sunday to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the church's founding. Past leaders of the church were present, as well as members of the Catholic clergy who call Elrosa their hometown: Abbott John Klassen and Father Joe Korf. Bohmer, whose grandfather also named John Bohmer founded the first bank in Brooten back in 1894, celebrated his 95th birthday today in grand style with a large community gathering at the Bonanza Valley State Bank parking lot today (June 17). Wosmek won the Top Gun award on B-B-E's Clay Trap shooting team, which is nearing the culmination of the inaugural season. A serious three-alarm fire claimed a barn in rural Brooten just before sunrise on Monday, June 6 at the Heidi Kinzler property. Responding to the 911 call were the Brooten, Belgrade and Elrosa fire departments. Eyewitnesses driving by say the flames from the fire shot high above the barn at one point. A fatal accident resulting from a car-vs. semi collision just under a mile north of Elrosa claimed the life of an Elrosa man, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. A total of 43 members out of the 47 graduating seniors of the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Class of 2016 participated in the annual ecumenical Baccalaureate service on Wednesday, May 25 at Big Grove Lutheran Church. Allegra TeBrake, age 16, is an 11-year survivor of brain cancer. Allegra had a new surgical procedure done in January 2016 and the family is currently facing expenses for travel to various appointments.
