    The Brooten American Legion Post No. 288 will host a Memorial Day program on Monday, May 26 at the Brooten Pavilion starting at 10 a.m. Music students from Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa high school will perform, and guest speaker and current elementary principal Josie Dingmann will give a speech.   • Gun safety training held in rural Belgrade (VIDEO)

    On Saturday, May 3, gun safety training was held for 38 youth from surrounding schools, including Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa and New London-Spicer. The five-hour event was hosted by members of the Padua Conservation Club in Colfax Township at the Belgrade Sportsmen's shooting range.     Turnout was tremendous tonight for the B-B-E Class of 2025 senior Baccalaureate worship service on Wednesday, April 30.     Jerry Huls, who taught and coached at Brooten schools from 1979 to 1983, passed away on Tuesday, April 29. He was the Brooten Buccaneers head wrestling coach during those four years and also taught K-6 physical education at Brooten elementary school. He was also part of Coach Donna Hursts's volleyball coaching staff at the C-squad level.
