On Saturday, May 3, gun safety training was held for 38 youth from surrounding schools, including Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa and New London-Spicer. Jerry Huls, who taught and coached at Brooten schools from 1979 to 1983, passed away on Tuesday, April 29. He was the Brooten Buccaneers head wrestling coach during those four years and also taught K-6 physical education at Brooten elementary school.
