The Belgrade-Brooten police department finished 2022 with a total of 1,837 incident complaint reports (ICRs) on the book. This represents about a six percent increase from 2021, when the total was 1,731 between the two towns. Sugar beet harvesting has become a time-honored tradition each fall across the Bonanza Valley area and beyond. The method used consists of two separate machines, one that cuts the top off the plant and the other that digs them up and lifts them into a storage hopper for transport. This year a total of 11 houses were made over a two-plus week period of time leading up to the final week before the Christmas break.
