    A large variety of 2023 Bonanza Valley Days T-shirts are for sale on Thursday and Friday, July 6-7, at the newspaper office in downtown Brooten. The "Proud and Free 2023" shirts are sized in both youth and adult varieties in selections of gray, yellow and pink. The cost is $15 each.     Friday night update to share from the publisher: the DeeJay Sounds street dance, sponsored by the Bonanza Valley Voice, is still ON! The music should start playing by 9:30 p.m., at which point the rain is supposed to dissipate. We are receiving about a half inch of highly valuable rain! This is a good thing.   • Public tours of remodeled B-B-E elementary school during BVD

    The public is invited to join Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa school staff for tours of the elementary school in Brooten on Friday, July 7 and Saturday, July 8, from 4 to 5 p.m. both days.   • LifeLink III helicopter to visit Bonanza Valley Days

    For the second year in a row, the LifeLink III helicopter is scheduled to visit Bonanza Valley Days. The helicopter is set to land between 5 and 7 p.m. on Friday, July 7 during the Brooten Fire Department's chicken BBQ supper fundraiser. It will not be able to visit if it is out on an emergency call, of course. A video below features the landing (it had landed already) of the helicopter on July 8 at BVD last summer.     Samantha Baker will reign as the new Miss Brooten as of this afternoon! Baker, along with five other candidates, were crowned as part of the Miss Brooten royal court for the next year.
