    The team from Brooten Electric, Inc. won the 11-team CHS-Prairie Lakes human foosball tournament, a fundraiser for the Harvest For Hunger campaign, on March 10 in Elrosa. Second place went to CHS-Elrosa, and Bucky's Bar took third place. Other teams were Pirates of Swanville, Gruber Baling and Kollman Repair.     A senior housing project proposed for Brooten this winter took another step forward at a community discussion held on March 8 at city hall. A crowd of over 20 provided feedback to the facilitators and Jana Zenner, who wishes to build the project to be ready "some time" in 2019.     At approximately 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 31, a power pole located right along Borgerding Avenue just north of Highway 55 on the east side of Belgrade was accidentally hit by a vehicle. It snapped, and the upper portion of the pole hung in the air while connected to the power lines.     On Saturday, Jan. 27 at approximately 9 p.m., the Stearns County Sheriff's Office received a report of a possible building fire on County Road 13 north of Belgrade.     News release at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 14: On Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017, at approximately 10:33 a.m., the Stearns County Sheriff's Office received a report of a loose cow about five miles north of Brooten. The cow had an ear tag on it, but deputies are unable to identify the owner at this time. The sheriff's office asks all cattle owners to check to see if they are missing any cows.     A multi-block section on the western side of Brooten lost electricity on Saturday, October 21, after an overhead power line was clipped by farm equipment.     While no loss of life has been reported, a two-alarm fire north of Brooten on Sunday, October 15 claimed a rural Brooten home. The fire call went out around 5 p.m., and both the Brooten and Elrosa fire departments responded along with the Glacial Ridge Ambulance service.
