Trinity Lutheran Church of Grove Lake held a marvelous Fall Festival on Sunday, September 7. The turnout for their dinner, bake sale and produce sale drew almost 170 paid adults and youth along with many children who were young enough to eat free. Easton Rood, who will be a third grader this fall at Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa elementary school, has now beaten back two different bouts with cancer. On June 18, he returned from a 216-day stay in Rochester where he fought off AML Leukemia while going through a successful bone marrow transplant. At about 7 a.m. on Wednesday, July 23, the Brooten Fire Department and Brooten Ambulance responded to a fire call on School Avenue. The fire was located in a private home that is currently unoccupied and for sale.
