Following the graduation ceremony for the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Class of 2021, a marvelous fireworks show was on full display at eastern side of the high school athletic complex. A sentencing hearing of July 12 is set for Travis Ryks, 36, of Brooten, after he pleaded guilty in Renville County District Court on Wednesday, May 5 on a charge of felony second-degree criminal sexual conduct for allegedly having sexual contact with a child younger than 13. Since the April 8 report for COVID-19 new case numbers (by zip code) was reported by the Minnesota Department of Health, the local zip code area of Belgrade, Brooten and Elrosa has seen 52 new cases reported in a population of approximately 4,285 people. The MDH's April 29 report showed a small uptick from 12 new cases reported April 22 to a new case number of 15.
