The Easter egg hunt and bicycle drawing for area youth is at 1 p.m. at the elementary school parking lot in Brooten on Saturday, March 30. The bicycles and supplies were purchased with generous donations by the Brooten Fire Relief Association and the Fauskee family of Brooten. Year by year after the pandemic, the Belgrade Lions has built up the annual chili cook-off contest as a fundraiser for the B-B-E Area Food Shelf. This year, with a total of eight different parties providing chili, the Belgrade Lions was thrilled to have 93 individuals participate in the contest. They raised over $200 in loose donations to go with the $465 raised from the contest participants. The Dave and Clara Rooney family hosted their 44th annual St. Patrick's Day parade on Sunday. This was one of many events and sources of entertainment held at the Padua Pub on what was a two-day celebration for the community. On Saturday, over 550 arm bands were provided for patrons of the Padua Pub, and needless to say, a grand time was had by all. Long-time high school science teacher Keith Clementson has passed away. His obituary was received by The Voice from his family on Tuesday this week (March 12). A celebration of life in his honor will be held on Friday, July 19 this coming summer from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Paynesville R.O.S.E. Center. The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Resistance Robotics team was one of 56 teams at the Great Northern regional competition in Grand Forks. The regional was held on March 6-9 at the Alerus Center. B-B-E's team pulled off a thoroughly impressive comeback on Friday and Saturday as they endured tremendous adversity.
