The Red Hen House retreat center was the site of the first annual Bonanza Valley Days Art Show, which featured works by local artist and Red Hen House owner Barbara Lent of Brooten. The 45th annual Bonanza Valley Days town celebration is underway in Brooten! The weekend kicked off with an outdoor church service on Thursday night in the city park that was led by Pastor Steve Bovendam of Brooten. A serious two-car accident took place at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28 four miles south of Brooten on Stearns County Road 18 and its intersection with Stearns County Road 19. At 5:18 p.m., a LifeLink III helicopter left the scene heading to St. Cloud, and soon after, an ambulance took off. Press release sent at 12:48 p.m. on Thursday, May 18. The Stearns County Sheriff's office is working jointly with the Alexandria Police Department to locate a missing juvenile. Tekoa Dotson was in a placement location in the city of Alexandria. She was placed there through Stearns County. The Brooten community will host the annual Community Prayer Service on Thursday, May 4, joining others throughout our country in the National Day of Prayer. This year's theme is "For Your Great Namesake". This is a time to ask God for His protection and leading as a nation and to remember God's blessings. Over 30 children from the Elrosa area visited with the Easter bunny on Saturday, April 15 at the Elrosa CCD center meeting room. Treats and activities were also provided, and all the kids' names were drawn at the end for a large variety of toys and prizes that were given away. Joseph Anton Traen, "Joe" age 59 of Watertown, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 29, 2017. He was born January 27, 1958 to Lawrence and Rose Adelle (Gregoire) Traen in Canby, Minnesota. Joe graduated from Canby High School in 1976. He went onto Willmar Community College and eventually graduating from St. Cloud State University. Joe wrestled throughout his school career.
