    Tri-Valley Opportunity Council is again participating in the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) in Brooten. Meals will be provided to all children, ages 0-18, at NO CHARGE! They will be provided for breakfast, lunch and snack on a first-come, first-service basis at the B-B-E elementary school. The summer meals will begin on Monday, June 10 at B-B-E elementary school in Brooten.     The Brooten American Legion will hold a Memorial Day program on Monday, May 27 at 10 a.m. at Memorial Park along Highway 55. The speaker will be Father David Grundman of the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Catholic churches.     The Elrosa Senior Citizens resumed the Bologna Daze season on Tuesday, April 30 at Bucky's Bar. The group will hold them on the last Tuesday of each month through the fall of 2019 before taking a break for the winter.     A major street improvement and sewer/water improvement project is underway in Brooten. Unpaved and partially-paved streets across town are getting new or upgraded overlay. Milling and grinding started near downtown Brooten on April 30. New sewer/water lines are going in at certain streets and alleys. Developer Cody Nelson recently told city hall that he is still interested in developing empty city lots into apartment or duplex-style housing.     On Friday, April 5 at approximately 4:15 p.m., a semi tractor struck power lines near the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa elementary school along School Avenue and took down two power poles. First, the Belgrade Commercial Club invites everyone to their Easter Egg hunt on Saturday, April 13.     The charitable gambling license (No. 03575) held by the Brooten Commercial Club is in the process of being terminated. Steps to that end began in January 2019 following an audit by the Minnesota Gambling Control Board.
