The Grace Lutheran Church WELCA group in Belgrade hosted the German Men's Choir out of Cold Spring on Wednesday, December 12. Around 60 children from the Elrosa area enjoyed time with Santa Claus on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church's parish center community room. It was a marvelous time for kids to enjoy cookies and milk, Christmas-themed crafts and a chance to tell Santa Claus what they would like to get for Christmas. The Belgrade/Brooten Police Department announced that for the second year in a row they will be sponsoring two families in need this Holiday season. Police Chief Casey Jansky said, "If anyone would like to stop by our police department office or city hall in Belgrade this Holiday season, we are asking for donations of money or gift cards. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Sunday afternoon at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic church in Elrosa. A landmark in downtown Brooten is no more. By the middle of last week, the walls were opened up and the demolition was well underway for the Nelson Hardware store property in downtown Brooten. The building's demolition was handled by Opatz Excavating of Holdingford. Prior to opening up the building, many weeks' worth of cleaning and clearing took place of the interior, which was full of mold from a rotted roof that fell into disrepair in recent years.
