    The town of Elrosa had much to be proud of following the weekend of June 19-20-21. The Elrosa Saints amateur baseball team hosted the Elite 8 tournament and drew a terrific crowd with near-perfect weather all three days. After beating New Munich in the quarterfinals by a 3-2 score in Friday, the Saints fell 6-1 to Watertown in the semifinals on Saturday night. The Saints finished in third place after defeating Freeport 12-1 in their Sunday matinee game to raise their record to 4-1 overall....

    The Brooten Commercial Club continues to have unpaid debt with the Minnesota Department of Revenue as well as the Internal Revenue Service. The tax debt with Minnesota surpasses $17,450. The tax debt with the federal government tops $35,000. As of June 2, no payments have been made on the BCC's delinquent account with MN-DOR since a $46,016.73 payment was made on January 30, according to state records.     In a case of felony theft by swindle in Pope County District VIII court in Glenwood on Tuesday, June 2, Jana Zenner was handed a sentence including five years of supervised probation plus restitution charges and community work service.
