A manhunt is underway in the Belgrade area after the driver involved in a two-car accident west of Belgrade fled on foot on the morning of Saturday, July 30. The accident took place at approximately 10:40 a.m. involving a mid-2000s model Chevrolet Equinox (gray color) and a mid-2000s model Chevrolet Impala (silver color). A cast of 29 youth will present the musical "Once upon a Leprechaun" this week Wednesday and Thursday, July 20 & 21, at 6:30 p.m. at the historic Terrace Mill in Terrace. A total of 58 runners enjoyed and/or endured the Bonanza Valley Days Walk/Run event held on Saturday morning, July 9, 2016. The course covered two miles, starting and ending on the southeast corner of the lot of the former Brooten and B-B-E Senior High school. The Brooten Community Church ties its local origins back to Peter Mastbergen, who migrated from Sheldon, Iowa, to a farm five miles south of Brooten in 1914. The family of the late Gary Breitbach were gracious hosts to 16 teams at the 10th annual Gary Breitbach Memorial golf tournament, which supports the Gary Breitbach Memorial scholarship program for Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa school graduates. Gary passed away in August 24, 2006 after a courageous battle with cancer. The last undefeated teams in the Stearns County League met for a great baseball game in Elrosa on Wednesday, June 29. The Elrosa Saints hosted the Farming Flames in a Little Dipper contest, in which the Flames overcame a 4-2 deficit in the third inning to come out with a 5-4 win. Staff and students at the Jaguar Kids Connection and Tri-Valley/Head Start programs, located at the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa elementary school, held an Independence Day parade on Friday, July 1. Over 350 attended Mass at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic church on Sunday to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the church's founding. Past leaders of the church were present, as well as members of the Catholic clergy who call Elrosa their hometown: Abbott John Klassen and Father Joe Korf.
