The 26th annual Sno-Daze coronation and games were held on February 2 at the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa high school. Seniors Samantha Gjerstad and Sam Wosmek were crowned B-B-E's Sno-Daze Queen and King. While games going into three overtimes are generally unheard of, games ending in five overtimes are even more rare. The B-B-E Jaguars boys' basketball team can say they've been a part of a five-overtime game, though, and better yet they can say they've won such a contest. Packer Brothers and Precision Manufacturing hosted a bus tour from the the Minnesota Rental Association last Thursday. The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa speech team has a storied history and has been a force among area schools this entire century. Twice since 2012, B-B-E's state entrants in the Class 1A state speech meet have catapulted the team to a ranking of seventh based on their cumulative performances. Andy Tensen is a United States Army veteran, a retired farmer and a current Commander of the Brooten American Legion. More than all of those lofty titles, Tensen is first and foremost a grandpa. At approximately 08:45 on the morning of Wednesday, January 13, a snow plow collided with an eastbound train at the railroad crossing west of Brooten on 493rd Avenue. A middle-aged man was seen by multiple witnesses dragging a leashed small dog down an alley in Elrosa at about 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, January 10. Very early on the morning of Tuesday, Jan. 12 at 01:35 hours, the Stearns County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a domestic disturbance call in the city of Belgrade. USDA Rural Development State Director Colleen Landkamer recently announced that USDA is investing nearly $1.1 million to help nine businesses in rural Minnesota.
