The pool of money sponsors donate to the March Campaign is divided up amongst 300 participating food shelves depending on how much each food shelf raises in March. The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Area Food Shelf collected $18,547.55 and 1,025 pounds during the March 2018 Campaign. Last year, the March campaign collected $16,504 and 800 pounds. A senior housing project proposed for Brooten this winter took another step forward at a community discussion held on March 8 at city hall. At approximately 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 31, a power pole located right along Borgerding Avenue just north of Highway 55 on the east side of Belgrade was accidentally hit by a vehicle. It snapped, and the upper portion of the pole hung in the air while connected to the power lines. On Saturday, Jan. 27 at approximately 9 p.m., the Stearns County Sheriff's Office received a report of a possible building fire on County Road 13 north of Belgrade.
