An unforseen mechanical problem during routine water tower maintenance (cleaning) in Brooten has led to an hours-long water outage across town on Tuesday, June 21. The issue arose around 10 a.m. today, and it appears that it will take at least a "couple more hours" until it's resolved, according to city staff. The Brooten American Legion Ranten-Sunflot Post No. 288 hosted a Memorial Day program on May 30 at the Brooten Pavilion. Severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall had passed over the area before sunrise that day, so the event was moved indoors from its usual location of Memorial Park. This also happened in 2019.
