Fire Safety week was recognized at Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa schools during the week of October 9-15. On Thursday, October 13, four members of the Brooten Fire Department went around the classrooms of the elementary school and provided tips and important information about what to do in case of a fire while also answering questions about the department and their fire fighting equipment. The sun shined throughout the afternoon and into the early evening as the second annual Goat Ridge Brewing Company's Oktoberfest took place on Saturday, Oct. 8 on the scenic shores of the Crow River in New London. On Sunday, October 9, a fundraiser service was held at Crow Lake Lutheran church in rural Belgrade. The purpose was not only to gather with friends and family with ties and attachments to the church but also to raise money to help continue maintenance and upkeep of the church and cemetery. The annual fall Turkey Fest activities at Brink's Beer Joint in Swift Falls on Saturday (Sept. 17) brought hundreds to town on a day with pleasant temperatures and full sunshine. Brink's Beer Joint owner Ben Honebrink reported that over 140 tickets were sold for the turkey cook-off contest. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner and a forensic odontologist identified the remains as Wetterling's earlier today. After extensive digging of section data at Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa, the following information was uncovered. It shows a comparison of the 2011-12 school year to the current school year. It shows that 22 classrooms were in use for K-6 regular education as well as the Jaguar Kids Connection in the 2011-2012 school year. (Today, the school has 20 rooms in use for those purposes.) The information also shows that the school building had approximately 50 to 55 more students in the building on any given school day (2011-12 compared to today)....
The summer Vacation Bible School program for the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Catholic churches was held on Thursday, July 28 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic church in Elrosa. For the third time in team history, the Elrosa Saints amateur baseball team is heading to the Sweet 16 round of the Class C state tournament. In the Round of 32 at state, Elrosa beat Blue Earth by a 1-0 score on Saturday, August 27 in Hutchinson to improve to 19-14 overall.
