In Minnesota and Stearns County, most overdose deaths were a result of opioids. In 2019, 11 out of 15 (73 percent) Stearns County drug overdoses were due to opioids. The Sunburg community hosted a marvelous Syttende Mai celebration on Sunday, May 19. The Sunburg Trolls Car Club raffle concluded the event, and the quilt raffle took place after over 800 tickets were sold. The winner of the quilt was Curtis Engstrom of Norway Lake Township. The Belgrade-Brooten police department has applied for grant funding to pay for state highway crosswalk signs at the downtown areas of both Belgrade and Brooten.
