Students in the fifth and sixth grades at Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa elementary held a spring concert on May 15. The concert began with the elementary choir singing two songs. Next was the elementary band performing, and then the full student body in the fifth and sixth grades sang Rock n' Roll classic songs. The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa high school band and choir programs held a spring concert on Monday, May 6. Groups performing were students who competed in solo and ensemble contests earlier this spring as well as the junior high band and choir and senior high band and choir. The 2019 Baccalaureate Service for Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa's senior graduating class will be held Sunday, May 19 at 7 p.m. at Grace Lutheran church of Belgrade. This service celebrates the graduate members of B-B-E's Class of 2019 and blesses them on their way. The service will be led by members of the senior class plus local clergy. A truly magnificent setting was a big part of Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa's 30th annual Prom Grand March on Saturday, April 27. With a slight amount of cloud cover, not a hint of wind and seasonable temperatures around 60 degrees, the grand march featured no fewer than 61 couples - the most in many years for B-B-E. The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa high school choral department hosted a winter concert on Monday, March 18 at the auditorium. Students in grades 7-12 performed, and some sang solos during the evening. Junior high (grades 7-8) students sang "De Colores", "Believer (Paige Klaphake, soloist)" and "Joy To The World." The 11-member Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Resistance Robotics team just completed their best season since 2014. The eight-year old robotics program finished 19th out of 63 teams at the Lakes Superior Regional in Duluth. The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Resistance Robotics team climbed to 19th place out of 63 teams after their final match was completed at the Lakes Superior regional in Duluth on Saturday, March 9. The No. 1-seeded Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguars girls' basketball team took care of business in quick order for their opening playoff game on Thursday, February 28. At the friendly confines of the home court, the Jaguars advanced to the Sub-Section 5A-South semifinals with an 87-25 win over Hinckley-Finlayson. Hinckley-Finlayson finishes the season 9-19 overall. The 30th Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Sno-Daze week was held February 11-16 with dress-up days over a five-day period, the King and Queen coronation plus a host of other activities culminating with a semi-formal dance on Saturday. Seniors Riley Lenarz and Kenzie Thieschafer were crowned king and queen on Tuesday at the Sno-Daze coronation ceremony. Another round of snow and wind will move across the Bonanza Valley area on Thursday, February 7. Winds are predicted to climb past 20 mph on Thursday afternoon. The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Resistance Robotics team traveled to Central Lakes College in Staples on Saturday, January 5 as one of eight teams in attendance for the F.I.R.S.T. Robotics Kickoff event. Nearly 100,000 high-school students on 3,790 teams at 146 venues around the globe joined the 2019 Kickoff via live broadcast out of Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, NH. This was the 25th annual conference sponsored by the Southwest Minnesota Arts Council and SWWC Service Cooperative and held at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall.
